Don’t you love it when you buy something and have to put it together.  I don’t!  I would sometimes rather pay the extra money to have it put together for me.

It seems it is never as easy as the box leads you to believe it will be to put it together.  Also, the word “some” assembly required should most of the time be replaced by “almost all” or the “hardest” parts anyway.

The author of Hebrews quotes from the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah in chapter ten reminding believers in Christ that salvation is paid in full-no assembly required.  He writes, “This is the covenant (a new covenant) I will make with them, says the Lord.  I will put my law in their hearts and I will write them on their minds.” (this is sanctification-the process of making us Holy that is done by the Spirit of God and begins when we are saved).  “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”  (Interpretation:  I will not hold their sins against them).

So, what does this mean to us today?

#1- We no longer have to offer a sacrifice for sin.  If we are in Jesus, it has been paid in full.

#2- We now have confidence and boldness to enter the presence of God.

#3- We have been washed from a guilty conscience and accepted by a Holy God.

In this passage, we are challenged to see Christ’s sacrifice as once and for all, there is no need for any other sacrifice.  Because of Christ, we can now boldly enter the Most Holy Place without fear.  No Assembly Required.  Paid in Full!

  • Turning our problems into prayers…Nehemiah 1: 5-11

The book of Nehemiah stands near the end of history section of the Bible.  It records one of the three major waves of Jewish exiles who returned to Israel after the 70 years of Babylonian captivity. But, its main source is the life and leadership of the man who led this wave, Nehemiah.
