In Micah 7:2, Micah laments, “The faithful man has perished from the earth, And there is no one upright among men.  They all lie in wait for blood; Every man hunts his brother with a net.”

As I observe politics, I am reminded why good men stay away.  It is truly a blood sport.  Likewise, as I observe pastoring, I am reminding why so many give up.  It, too, can be a blood sport.

Unfortunately our society as lost the ideals of loyalty and faithfulness.  Employers no longer value their employees, and employees no longer give their best to their employers.  Divorce and Cohabitation are rampant in large part due to a lack of value in commitment and faithfulness.  In the church, it seems that many times people in the pews are lurking to find a bit of dirt to pass on the pastor or on one another.  They lie in wait for blood.

In Genesis 9, we read of Noah drinking to much and laying naked inside his tent.  Ham, his son, saw his father and took pleasure in exposing his nakedness.  His other sons, respecting their father, instead took a robe and looked the other way while covering his nakedness.

In life, we are sometimes exposed to people’s sins and nakedness.  What if God’s desire is for us to conceal it rather than reveal it.  What if God wants us to “cover” that person’s nakedness in prayer and compassion instead of dragging it out for the world to see?  What if God decided to reveal your nakedness?  It is there!  What goes around comes around! You will reap what you sow!  How you handle the vulnerability of others will determine how God handles yours.  Remember the words of Scripture, “A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.”

  • Turning our problems into prayers…Nehemiah 1: 5-11

The book of Nehemiah stands near the end of history section of the Bible.  It records one of the three major waves of Jewish exiles who returned to Israel after the 70 years of Babylonian captivity. But, its main source is the life and leadership of the man who led this wave, Nehemiah.
