“God communicates clearly the parameters by which He is to be worshipped.”

I have noticed a trend in today’s society that is all to familiar.  Everyone wants to approach God when, where, and how they want to.  It is as if He is a commodity and not the Creator.  The heart of this view is that ALL religious people are going to SAME heaven; just taking different routes of getting there.

The origin of this belief finds its roots in the first family.  After the passage of time, Cain and Abel were once again bringing their required sacrifices before a Holy God.  However, this time, Cain brought from the fruit of the ground, while Able brought the required blood sacrifice.  Abel’s offering was accepted, Cain’s offering was not.

But why?  It’s not fair.  Cain is a farmer.  Should he not be able to bring an offering from what He does?  The answer is no. Cain was not rejected because of who He was, what He did for a living, nor what he struggled with personally.  Cain was rejected because He did not bring the required sacrifice.  God had instructed what was to be brought and had given the first example.  Cain knew what God wanted, but made the decision to bring what He wanted instead.

Here is the crux…God gets to make the rules, we do not.  That may not seem fair to some, but it is more than fair because He is God.  Today, people want to be their own gods.  They want to define themselves as anything they want to be and want to be accepted for it.  That may work in today’s politically correct culture, but I have news for you friends, it will not stand before God.

God has made an avenue whereby we might be forgiven and restored to a right standing before God.  Jesus spoke of that way in John 10:7 when He said, “I am the door of the sheep…by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved.”  You must come to God on God’s terms or be denied access forever.  What will be you decision today?
