During the month go June, I have been asked by my friend and brother Ken Stansberry to lead out in the Monday morning Pastor’s Conference and it has been great.

This past Monday, Bob Brown shared with us the TBC vision for church revitalization along with some challenging words from Revelation 2 along with a very inspiring quote from Augustine, “Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are.”
This quote has challenged my thinking this week and I pray it does yours as well.  You see friends, we are in the midst of a spiritual battle for the hearts, minds, and souls of our neighbors, co-workers, families, and friends.  In this current cultural climate, we see the war personified in many ways.  As our country demonizes the Duggars and glorifies Bruce “Caitlyn” Jenner while remaining absolutely stagnant on the global persecution of Christians, we see evil on the march like never before.
As I look around the church, I see a group of disinterested, lackluster, undisciplined recruits with little effort and no desire.  We are hopelessly outmanned, outgunned, and outmaneuvered.  Our only hope at this point is to wake up and begin to prepare ourselves for battle looking unto God for the strength, the willingness, and the plans to overcome.
Now you know, I love Sunday School.  I believe as Napoleon said of China that our Sunday School could be “the sleeping giant” that if awakened might lead to a shift in the spiritual and moral collapse of our nation.  What will it take?  Well, change for one.  But, wait right there preacher, we are not about to change.  In that case, we are in trouble.  You see friends, while our current structures and programs were great in the 1950s and 60s, they do not and will not work today.  We must get out of our comfort zones and find ways to engage the unreached like never before. We must become missional in our thinking.  We must heed the words of the Apostle John who understood that this world is enemy territory under the “sway of the wicked one”, and we must also pray like never before.
I am determined to get in the battle.  I am asking you to join me.  Its not to late!  We can make an impact.  Join us will you?

The book of Nehemiah stands near the end of history section of the Bible.  It records one of the three major waves of Jewish exiles who returned to Israel after the 70 years of Babylonian captivity. But, its main source is the life and leadership of the man who led this wave, Nehemiah.
